More Workshop Materials!  We have painted doors, painted windows, birdhouses, birdseed balls, striped wood for the benches, punched leather, painted signs and recorded train memories and music. By this Saturday the workshops will be finished and I’ll have my hands full.
I recorded some train memories during one of the art workshops.  I was amazed at the stories of young love, a bear on the tracks, ringing the bell and riding in the caboose, hobos and gypsies, St. Paul depot stories, a trip to Alaska, yearly visits via rail to see relatives, 12 cent fares and more.  Do you have a fond memory which includes a locomotive?  I missed out on the times where train travel was one of the only ways to travel long distances.  I like hearing all the memories and imagining myself there…

The sculpture trailer is officially titled and road travel approved. I got some metal ‘birdhouses’ primed and ready and took the tires off the trailer Sunday.  They will be getting a little TLC this week.  I have met so many wonderful people.  Thanks for your help!

August is going to be a month to build and add to the Locomotive Sculpture.  Watch the bulletin board or blog each week as this collaborative sculpture comes together.  Each participating facility should look for where the elements you helped create end up.
